INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING JVST MANUSCRIPTS

JVST B Special Collection

2024 International Symposium of the Vacuum Society of the Philippines

Manuscript deadline: July 17, 2024

Papers presented at ISVSP 2024 may be submitted for publication in a Special Collection within the Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology B (JVST B). The deadline for manuscript submission to JVST B is July 17, 2024. Submit your manuscripts to JVST B and select the ISVSP 2024 Collection using the journal’s online manuscript submission system at http://jvstb.peerx-press.org. In preparing your article, please follow the instructions for contributors, which may be found on the Information for Contributors link at https://pubs.aip.org/avs/jvb/pages/manuscript.

No Page Charges: AVS Journals do not require page charges. AVS also offers free membership for one year to the corresponding author on accepted JVST papers, which includes journal access.

Authors are encouraged to use the JVST templates. The easiest way to prepare your manuscript is to use the available JVST Article Template to delete and replace text as necessary. Article templates can be found at https://pubs.aip.org/avs/jvb/pages/manuscript.

Note that acceptance to present at the conference does not guarantee the acceptance of your manuscript in JVST B. Papers will be reviewed according to criteria set by JVST and must meet JVST standards for both technical contents and written English. To be published in JVST B, the manuscript must:

  • present original findings, conclusions, or analyses that have not been published previously by the authors or others,

  • be free of errors and ambiguities,

  • support conclusions with data and analysis,

  • be written clearly, and

  • have high impact in its field, which must be within the scope of topics covered by the journal

Note: Authors should select “Article” as the type of paper within the conference special issue (not Letter, Note, etc.)

It is very IMPORTANT that authors indicate to which Collection the paper is submitted. Online, you will have an opportunity to tell us that your paper is a part of this Collection by choosing the Special Topic or Conference Collection “Papers from The 2024 International Symposium of the Vacuum Society of the Philippines (ISVSP 2024)” from the drop-down list in the Manuscript Classification tab.

Please refer to the JVST B journal web page for details about manuscript preparation.

Note: Please observe the deadline to allow for timely processing. JVST will try to include papers submitted after this deadline in the Collection, but these papers may not be included. However, if accepted, papers can still be published as regular articles.

Submit Manuscript to: http://jvstb.peerx-press.org

Conference participants who submit a manuscript for Conference Proceedings can select the type of paper among four categories, i.e., Review Paper, Regular Paper, Technical Note, and Proceeding Paper.

Proceeding Paper

A short version or a summary of the already published paper is not allowed.

Review Paper, Regular Paper, Technical Note

These papers are regarded as original papers even though they are included in a conference proceedings book.

Paper Category

1. Review Paper

  • Topical reviews about hot issues recently discussed and debated in papers or conferences.
  • Reviews about series of research works in particular research groups, together with related works from other groups.
  • Comprehensive and text-book-style review articles of particular fields.
  • No length limit.
  • Review papers are invited by editors or can be submitted by anyone.

2. Regular Paper

  • Reports of original research works.
  • No length limit.

3. Technical Note

  • Reports of advances in experimental apparatus and techniques.
  • Tips and know-how of experimental and theoretical studies.
  • New combination or original customizations of conventional apparatus, techniques, and/or protocols.
  • Results of control experiments or data sets that are useful for the community.
  • No length limit.

Manuscript Structure:

  • All manuscripts should be written in good English. For all types of articles except for a Review Paper, i.e., a Regular Paper, a Technical Note, and a Conference Paper, there is a limitation for the number of references that you can cite.
  • The number of references you cite should be usually between 10 and 40 for a Regular Paper, a Technical Note, and a Conference Paper. For a Review Paper, there is no limitation.
  • The requirements for each section of the paper are included in the templates provided.
